JH Coolers injects cool air into plastics packaging factory

Aprivate company, Concept Plastic Packaging is a leading manufacturer of trays for food packaging. The company¡¯s plastic extrusion machines first turn the pellets into plastic rolls, which are then converted into food trays for bluechip companies and major supermarkets. Heat given off by the machines and from the sun¡¯s heat penetrating through corrugated Perspex roof was compounded by the fact that as the product is produced for the food industry, production has to be carried out in a closed environment. Despite some cooling from some existing roof fans, temperatures in the top of the building reached 40¡ãC in peak summer. JH¡¯s evaporative cooling system has provided Concept Plastic Packaging with a cost effective means of improving the working environment for employees. Six JH coolers have been installed on the roof of the building with air ducted to four-way plenums located some 12 metres above the floor at strategic points around the production hall. Stale air is removed using four extractor fans mounted on the roof and cool air introduced by the JH coolers. By supplying a steady flow of
fresh, cooled air into the area, temperatures have dropped by around 14¡ãC on the very hot days.
¡°The JH coolers have had a very positive effect on our workforce and made a great difference to the working , says Ian Marlow, environment¡± Managing Director of Concept ¡°I would Plastic Packaging. recommend installing JH Coolers in any factory where high temperatures are causing a poor thermal environment¡±
